ATTACHMENT, ROMANTIC LOVE, AND SEXUALITY:
Clinical Applications of the Research to Comprehensive Individual, Couple, and Sex Therapy
Cutting edge research reveals the deep interconnections between attachment and sexuality. Secure, anxious, avoidant, and ambivalent attachments become an individual's body-based roots of adult intimacy, affecting such issues as romantic attraction, choice of a mate, emotional reactivity under stress, and whether or not sexual contact is motivated by feelings of love and pleasure, sought for reassurance, or performed out of obligation.
Join us for this one-day seminar designed to provide clinicians with a lifespan model for emotional and sexual intimacy along with a comprehensive approach to psychotherapy and sex therapy that combines cognitive-behavioral and somatic-experiential methodology.
Topics include:
- How clients often transfer unresolved attachment issues onto their intimate partner and how that impacts emotional intimacy and affects sexual desire.
- How focusing on subtle body-based cues, such as felt-sense awareness or facial micro-expressions and gestures, deepens therapy and fosters surprising, unanticipated insights.
- How helping clients build skills for de-stressing and becoming more empathically attuned to an intimate partner turns their relationship and sexual difficulties into developmental opportunities for healing at every stage of life.
